Chief of air staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has assured
Nigerians that the air force is doing everything possible to locate and
rescue Chibok girls and other captives of the Boko Haram insurgents.
Daily Trust reports that Abubakar made the remark at the weekend when he was inspecting various on-going projects of the Nigerian Air Force at its Tactical Air Command in Makurdi, Benue state.
“What I can tell you is that we are doing everything humanly possible to deal with all the challenges that there are in the current insurgency going on, that of course involves our trying to locate not only the Chibok girls but every Nigerian that is kidnapped.
“We are working day and night through intelligence gathering and surveillance. We are expending a lot of flying hours to make sure we are able to locate Chibok girls and every Nigerian that is kidnapped,” he said.

Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the progress of work at various stages in the command. He noted that the aim of the projects was to provide the right environment for personnel in the fight against Boko Haram.
According to the chief of air staff, the Nigerian army with the help of the air force is winning the fight against the insurgents in the northeast.
“We are there degrading the capacity of the insurgents and also ensuring that the surface force, (the army) is able to operate with little or no hindrance, and so all the units involved are doing everything to impact positively on what is going on in the northeast,” he said.
Meanwhile, one of the victims of the Boko Haram sect has recently issued a stern warning to the federal government concerning the missing Chibok girls.
Hajiya Aishatu said that bringing back Chibok girls into the country might spell doom for Nigeria’s anti-terrorism stance.
Speaking on location of the abducted schoolgirls, one of the Boko Haram commanders, who asked for anonymity, said:
“I know where they are. You want to know where they are? They are not with us. If we can get what we want, we know where they are, we will get them.”
