Bryson Tiller Talks Not Signing with OVO, Rihanna and Justin Bieber Co-Signs

Bryson TillerIn between back-to-back Radio City Music Hall performances, Bryson Tiller stopped by Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” to talk about a slew of topics, ranging from Rihanna and Justin Bieber to Drake.

The 23-year-old Louisville singer, who released his debut T R A P S O U L last year, also opened up about some life-altering moments, from his first big co-sign to a night of clubbing with Drake. He also explained why he bypassed Drizzy’s OVO Sound imprint to sign with RCA Records.
“Rambo” is in the midst of his “Trap Soul” tour now, a run that’s set to end in his hometown on March 12.
On Timbaland: “The first person that reached out to me that changed everything was Timbaland…Timbo was like, ‘I love this song. You need to come work with me.'”
On bypassing Drake’s OVO for RCA: “40 called me…like, ‘This is actually a great deal.’ I think he looked [the RCA deal] over and was like, ‘I haven’t seen a deal like this in a long time’ and he thought that I should take it. A month later, Drake invited me to the club in L.A. to turn up with him.”
On selling out Radio City Music Hall: “Last year was my first time ever going to a show so I don’t know how big of a deal it is to sell out Radio City…But my manager tells me all the time that it’s like a big deal for a new artist.”
On outside ventures: “I know it’s kind of early, but I really want to start branching off and doing things other than music, like doing my own TV show and making a video game.”
On Rihanna and Justin Bieber: “Justin Bieber and Rihanna came to my L.A. show. That was weird. It was just weird. I was walking backstage and next thing you know, Justin’s walking by slow-clapping like, ‘Yeah, that’s my boy.’ I was like, ‘What?’ And then Rihanna came in and I don’t know, it was just weird as hell. I was trying not to look [at her] because I thought that would be rude because she’s Rihanna.”
