Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has hinted that captain John Terry may stay at the club.
Terry is set to leave the club at the end of the season after the Blues announced they would not be renewing the former England captain’s contract.
Speculation is rife as to where he will go after a trophy-laden spell at Stamford Bridge, with the United States, with LA Galaxy, and China being touted as possible destinations.
But Hiddink believes that Terry may yet decide to stay.
He said: “It was a bit surprising [Terry’s announcement], but he’s entirely up to him to do so.
“There was no specific decision made yet. It’s still early. Dialogue is always possible.
“John’s statistics and the views I have in him is very fit. He’s not what you see in a 35-year-old player.
“He is performing and I am convinced he will do regardless of the situation. He will be professional.”
It is unlikely that Terry would move to another Premier League club, as he may well find it hard to play against a club where he is clearly still beloved.
